NELLORE: Security has been beefed up in the district in view of the scheduled visit of President Pratibha Patil to Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) at SHAR in Sriharikota on Monday. The Coast Guard has also been put on high alert.
According to SP BV Ramanakumar, 5 additional SPs, 16 DSPs, 16 CIs, 90 SIs and an equal number of ASIs and 300 constables have been deployed at SHAR.
There are 15 CIs, 40 SIs, 70 ASIs and 600 constables of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at SHAR. In all, 21 vehicles will be in the President's convoy during her visit to the space centre. A trial run was conducted on Sunday on the route proposed for the President's convoy. Gudur DSP Suresh Kumar coordinated the trial run.
