HYDERABAD: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumanth Rao has appealed to police officials not to permit Andhra and Rayalaseema leaders' political yatras, particularly that of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Nizamabad district on January, claiming that they would only create strife in the region.
Talking with reporters here on Sunday, Rao wanted to know if the police would allow Telangana students taking up yatras in Andhra and Rayalaseema areas. He appealed to leaders from the other two regions to keep in mind the sentiments of the people of Telangana.
Rao expressed displeasure over N Chandrababu Naidu's tour of Warangal district and questioned whether it was necessary to provide the kind of security cover to him which is usually given to prime minister. Naidu's tour dented Congress' image because of the unprecedented security given to him.
