HYDERABAD: Preparing the ground for expansion of the Renigunta airport in Chittoor district, the state government on Wednesday issued orders for acquisition of 44.64 acres to construct a runway, a new integrated terminal building and other facilities.
The state government has directed the Chittoor district collector to speed up the process of land acquisition for upgradation of the Tirupati airport into an international airport.
As per the orders, about 44.64 acres will be acquired in the villages of Karukalva, Angunta, Vikruthamala and Kothapalem in Yerpadu and Renigunta mandals over the next a few months. The district collector had sent proposals seeking permission for land acquisition in February 2011.
