TIRUMALA: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board chairman K Bapiraju said that it has been decided to organise Annadanam at Lakshmi Narayana Swamy temple at the Seventh Mile along the footpath to Tirumala from Alipiri. Bapiraju, who inspected the darshan queue, kitchens and other places in Tirumala on Wednesday, said that tea will be served at Lakshmi Narayana Swamy temple from 7 a.m to 11 a.m and again from 3 p.m to 8 p.m, while food will be served from 11.30 a.m to 3 p.m and again from 8 p.m to 11 p.m free of cost for pilgrims trekking the hills.

Bapiraju, who had earlier directed the TTD to set up a small kitchen at Vaikuntam Queue Complex -II observing the difficulty in bringing food and tea for pilgrims all the way from the Annadanam kitchen, has now decided to install huge exhaust fans as the heat from the boilers was spreading to the queue.

He also insisted on chanting Govinda Namams along the footpath and asked the TTD employees to lead by example.

The chairman, who noticed that night darshan tickets were issued to devotees, who reached the hill shrine in the early hours of the day, took up the matter with the officials concerned and saw to it that darshan was provided to them in the afternoon itself.
