VIJAYAWADA: A woman and her daughter died when a sugarcane- laden tractor overturned and fell on a hut near Uppuluru rail track on Manthena-Uppuluru road at Kankipadu in the wee hours of Saturday. Kankipadu sub-inspector B Krishna Rao said the tractor was coming from Manthena to Uppuluru when the mishap occurred.

The tractor driver lost control over the vehicle and it overturned on the hut resulting in the instantaneous death of Indla Ramanamma (33) and her daughter Tirupatamma (10) who were sleeping. Ramanamma’s husband Ramanayya (36), who was injured in the mishap, was shifted to the Government General Hospital in Vijayawada.
