Five persons died and three sustained severe injuries in a road mishap when two cars collided head on on NH-44 near Adluri Yellareddy here on Sunday. While three persons died on the spot, two victims succumbed to injuries at the hospital allegedly due to lack of proper treatment.

Police said an Omni van coming from Banswada and a speeding car going from Hyderabad towards Bodhan collided near the village. While  van driver Saddam along with Maqbool and Kausar Begum died on the spot, Srinivas Reddy and Laxmi, who were travelling in the other car, suffered critical injuries. Three others, who received injuries in the incident, were rushed to Kamareddy government hospital.

Tension prevailed at the hospital when Srinivas Reddy and Laxmi succumbed to injuries allegedly due to lack of proper treatment by the doctors. Family members of Srinivas Reddy ransacked the hospital and damaged furniture and later staged a dharna in front of the hospital.

Three other victims injured are said to be in critical condition and were shifted to Hyderabad for treatment.
