Mishap: School bus driver held

Deputy DEO Muneiah has initiated action against Sai Yesu Vidya Niketan in Chilamathur near here on Tuesday. This follows an accident at Kodikonda checkpoint, involving a bus belonging to the educational institution in which two students died.

The district administration had found fault with the school management over transporting more number of students than permitted in the mini bus. Against its capacity of 35 students, the bus was packed with about 70 students at the time of the mishap.

It may be recalled here that police have already taken the school correspondent Narasimha into custody on Monday itself.

Police also arrested the school bus driver Jabbar Basha on Tuesday and were shocked after learning that he was a beneficiary of the government pension scheme given to persons of special category and was receiving a sum of `500 as pension every month.

Fulfilling one of the demands of people, speed breakers were arranged on NH-44 at Kodikonda check point. Officials of the RTA and police departments held a meeting with schools in Penukonda.
