Paddy procurement to be decentralised

 The state government has proposed to decentralise the procurement of paddy and rice this Kharif season, minister for food D Sridhar Babu said.

 Paddy will be procured by the governmental agencies at the minimum support price (MSP), mill and utilise it for state's public distribution system (PDS) as per allotment made by the central government.

 The agencies will also accept raw rice for its balance requirement for PDS.

 The central government will provide subsidy between the economic cost of rice minus the issue price of Food Corporation of India (FCI) besides other charges like transportation of paddy under decentralised procurement, handling charges, storage charges etc.

 The state government has asked the centre for decentralisation permission .

 CASH IN LIEU OF KEROSENE:

The government will put to use the "Cash Transfer" scheme, at 40 fairprice shops in East Godavari and 10 in Hyderabad districts from September.

 Instead of kerosene the cardholders will be given money.
