The 'Maha Dharna' organised by the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled tribes Morcha of the BJP received a good response on the second day at Indira Park here on Sunday.

The state committee of the morcha started a three-day 'Maha Dharna' on Saturday demanding that the state government constitute the long pending Scheduled Caste commission in the state.

During the course of the dharna, the BJP aims at highlighting the alleged neglect of the dalits by the state government.

Addressing the dharna, BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha president Dushyant Kumar Gautam blamed the state government for not constituting the long pending demand of SC commission which he termed was the only 'road to emancipation of the dalits'.  He vowed to continue the movement till the goal is achieved.  "The failure of the UPA government to launch a new programme for the dalits strengthens my view that they are neglecting us", he said.  BJP Scheduled Tribe Morcha president and MP Fagan Singh Kulaste also attacked the Centre and the state governments for neglecting the downtrodden.

He threatened to organise protests all over the state in the coming days if their demands are not met.

BJP national secretary Dr Laxman, BJP leader Y Laxminarayana, Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Association president R Krishnaiah and several other leaders were also present in the protest.  The protest would conclude tomorrow.
