WARANGAL: A Girijan widow (32) was gangraped while she was returning home after participating in the holi celebrations at Utla village on the outskirts of Mucharla gram panchayat in Gudur mandal on Thursday.
However, the incident came to light only on Friday when she lodged a complaint in the Gudur police station. She alleged that three youths--Islavath Ravi, Islavath Balu and Angothu Gone accosted her and dragged her to a secluded place and outraged her modesty.
Before lodging a complaint, the woman went home and informed her brothers of the incident.
A panchayat was held in the presence of village elders on Friday where the brothers and the accused exchanged blows. Both the groups suffered injuries. The injured were admitted to Mahbubabad Area Hospital.
Gudur circle inspector Suresh said the woman was sent to the hospital for medical examination. Search is on for the accused, the CI added.
