In a shocking incident, unidentified persons raped a woman who came on a pleasure trip along with her lover to Kaigal waterfall, a popular tourist spot in Baireddyplalle mandal of Chittoor district, on Thursday, after attacking the two with knives.
Palamaner rural CI V Chandrasekhar said, four miscreants attacked the victim (name withheld) and her lover K Muniraju (27) both from Bangarupet in Karnataka when they were in a secluded spot in the forest area near the waterfall. They first attacked Muniraju injuring him grievously and also the woman when she tried to stop them.
They dragged her behind thick bushes and outraged her modesty even as her lover was writhing in pain with severe injuries. Some people who came to see the waterfall, on hearing the cries of the woman and her lover informed the police who rescued them and admitted them in PES medical college hospital at Kuppam, where their condition is stated to be serious.
