With pro-Telangana activists protesting violently against Telugu movie 'Cameraman Gangatho Ramababu' starring Pawan Kalyan in city and elsewhere, Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce today decided to stop the film's screenings immediately.

TRS and other groups supporting separate Telangana today allegedly obstructed the screenings of the film, saying that it hurt sentiments of the people of Telangana region.

Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce, at an emergency meeting, decided to stop the screenings of the film in Telangana districts in view of "depiction of objectionable content", it said.

The film was showing at most of the 120 theatres in Telangana. Chamber president M Vijayender Reddy and members demanded that film director Puri Jagannadh should immediately remove the "objectionable" dialogue and scenes, and producer Danaiah V V should compensate the loss "suffered" by theatre- owners and distributors following cancellation of shows.

Pawan Kalyan, the brother of actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi, plays a lead role in the film which was released only yesterday.

Earlier in the day, some activists allegedly attacked director Puri Jagannadh's office at Jubilee Hills here, demanding apology and immediate stopping of the screenings.

Telangana Rashtra Samiti workers and Telangana statehood supporters allegedly barged into cinema halls near Tarnaka here and in Warangal, Ranga Reddy, Khammam, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar and Nizamabad districts. Some students allegedly removed the reels of the film and burnt them at Osmania University. The office of the film's distributor, Dilraju, too was stoned, reports said.

Both Puri Jagannadh and Dilraju, meanwhile, said they were willing to remove objectionable scenes or dialogue, if any, after showing the film to TRS and Telangana Joint Action Committee leaders. "I will apologise if they feel that dialogue and scenes are objectionable," said Puri.

Police took into custody TRS student leader B Suman and 14 others in connection with the alleged attack on Puri's office, Banjara Hills ACP Shanker Reddy said.
