AP's agitating junior doctors boycott emergency duties

The agitating junior doctors in Andhra Pradesh todayboycotted emergency duties in Government hospitals at several places in supportof their demands.

The medicos staged sit-ins and demonstrations in variouscities like Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada.

They raised slogans against the State's Congress Governmentand also displayed placards on which appeals, addressed to UPA ChairpersonSonia Gandhi and other top leaders to listen to their problems, were written.

Their demands include clear guidelines for posting in ruralareas and strengthening of Government hospitals as per the guidelines ofMedical Council of India (MCI).

The agitation by the junior doctors, which started a fewdays ago, put the patients visiting the Government hospitals to greatinconvenience.

Meanwhile, Principal Secretary (Health) K R Kishore appealedto the medicos to call off their stir and resume duties.
