The agitating junior doctors in Andhra Pradesh today boycotted emergency duties in Government hospitals at several places in support of their demands.

The medicos staged sit-ins and demonstrations in various cities like Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada.

They raised slogans against the State's Congress Government and also displayed placards on which appeals, addressed to UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and other top leaders to listen to their problems, were written.

Their demands include clear guidelines for posting in rural areas and strengthening of Government hospitals as per the guidelines of Medical Council of India (MCI).

The agitation by the junior doctors, which started a few days ago, put the patients visiting the Government hospitals to great inconvenience.

Meanwhile, Principal Secretary (Health) K R Kishore appealed to the medicos to call off their stir and resume duties.
