Director-general of police V Dinesh Reddy will now hold the post in the capacity as in-charge.
Orders to this effect were issued by the state government here on Monday.
The move was necessitated as the Supreme Court did not stay the order of the High Court which had asked the government to make Reddy in-charge DGP.
The High Court upheld the order of the CAT which quashed the appoinment of Reddy as the DGP and advised the government to send a panel of names to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for choosing the head of the police force.
The government was given the freedom to consider Reddy again for the post.
According to the government’s orders issued on Monday, Dinesh Reddy will discharge the functions of the DGP but purely as incharge in officiating arrangement.
He will draw the salary and emoluments in the rank of DGP HAG+ Scale until further orders
