PM directs Andhra MPs to AICC

Prime minister Manmohan Singh is understood to have asked the Congress MPs from the Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, who have been intensely lobbying against formation of Telangana state, to meet the AICC top brass to present their argument in favour of keeping the present state intact.

A nine-member delegation of Congress’ Seemandhra MPs , headed by Eluru MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, met Singh on Thursday and sought an immediate announcement from the Central government that Andhra Pradesh would not be divided at all.

It is learnt that the prime minister advised the MPs to meet the Congress high command over the issue, saying that the Congress party had not yet taken a final decision on the contentious issue.
