Rains batter village roads

Heavy rains have caused severe damage to several roads in the remote villages in the district. The roads in the Pinapaka assembly constituency have turned into virtual death traps as huge craters have been created.

According to the sources, the majority of the roads, even the newly laid ones, in Pinapaka have been badly damaged due to the heavy rains.

People of the constituency alleged poor supervision by the officials during the construction of the roads as the reason for the damage.

“It has become very dangerous to ply on these roads, especially after dark,” Chanda Rama Rao of Bottugudem village said.  The Wyra-Madhira main road at Moturu village in Madira mandal got damaged as the upper layer of more than half km stretch of the tar road got washed away.  The approach road connecting the bridge on the Eethavagu stream was eroded.
