A division bench of the High Court comprising acting chief justice PC Ghose and justice Vilas V Afzulpurkar on Monday ordered issuance of notices on a writ petition complaining that the authorities were not acting in coordination to prevent road accidents.
The petition was filed by D.Padmaja representing Forum for Better Living. She complained that authorities including the Road Safety Authority, APSRTC, additional DGP (road safety) and the excise department had not applied their mind to prevent road accidents. The petition also gave details of the loss of life. The bench directed the authorities to explain the steps taken by them to prevent road accidents.
