Twelve people, including fivewomen and an infant, were killed and six others injured whentheir vehicle was hit by a speeding lorry in Kadapa districtof Andhra Pradesh early this morning, police said.
The victims, hailing from Nanded district of Maharashtra,were on their way to Tirumala on a pilgrimage when thecoal-laden lorry collided with their four-wheeler betweenRajampet and Nandularu at around 5.30 AM, police said.
Around 18 persons were travelling in the ill-fatedvehicle, Kadapa district superintendent of police Manish KumarSinha said.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, he added.
