Andhra HC notices on Hinduja plant construction

Justice G Bhavani Prasad of the High Court on Monday ordered issuance of notices in a writ petition filed complaining that illegal constructions were taking place on the sea shore in the name of Hinduja thermal power plant without permissions.

The judge was dealing with a writ petition filed by the Visakha Zilla Sampradaya Matsya Karmika Union, represented by its president O Bosanna.

The petitioner contended that fishermen were adversely affected by the constructions on the sea shore and recalled that the Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and the Visakha Urban Development Authority (VUDA) had declared the constructions at Devada village in Peda Gantyada mandal as illegal and said no permissions had been granted for the work.

The petitioner claimed that the area was an agricultural as well as recreation zone and the constructions were in violation of the regulations.
