Tight security at Sriharikota for President visit

Security along the 169km-long coastline and in the forest areas surrounding the Sriharikota Island will be stepped up in view of the visit of President Pranab Mukherjee, who will witness the launch of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle C-20 (PSLV C-20) from Sriharikota High Altitude Range (SHAR), slated for Feb 25.

A high-level meet of police, CISF and SHAR authorities was held at SHAR centre Monday to review the security arrangements for the President’s visit. Collector B Sridhar, SP BV Ramana Kumar and SHAR director MIS Prasad and others were present.
