1.5 lakh throng Srisailam temple

Thousands of devotees thronged  the Srisailam temple in the district on Tuesday on the occasion of New year.

Long serpentine queues were witnessed in the temple since morning with more than 1.50 lakh pilgrims arriving to offer prayers at the temple.

Srisailam, also known as ‘Dakshina Kasi’ is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. The devotees took a holy dip in the Patala Ganga and had the darshan of the deities in the temple.

The general darshan took nearly  8-9 hours and special darshan for 5-6 hours, the temple officials said.  State ministers Erasu Pratap Reddy and Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy and Kakinada-based Sri Mutt Peetadhipati Paripornananda Swami   were among those who offered prayers at the temple.

The temple officials made elaborate arrangements for the occasion.
