Anti-Akbar protest in city Monday

BJP’s Greater Hyderabad Committee has decided to organise protests against MIM Akbaruddin Owaisi’s alleged hate speech in all the 24 Assembly constituencies, including those being represented by the MIM, in the city on Monday.

The party aims to build pressure, through the protest programmes, on the Election Commission (EC) for de-recognition of the MIM.

Black flags will be hoisted in public places and party leaders will address public meetings. BJP activists plan to greet MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi with black flags when he arrives at the Shamshabad airport on return from London. The party has demanded the immediate arrest of MIM leader for the provocative remarks he had allegedly made against Hindus in Adilabad and Nizamabad districts last month.

The BJP has also decided to participate in a dharna to be organised by Hindu Rakshana Samiti at Indira Park in the city on January 8 in protest over Akabaruddin’s speech.

The meeting, held here on Sunday, was presided over by BJP city president B Venkat Reddy.
