MLA may surrender to police today

Khanapur Telugu Desam MLA Suman Rathod, against whom an arrest warrant has been issued for alleged cheating in a land deal, is likely to surrender to the Cyberabad police in Hyderabad on Friday.

Rathod had been underground ever since the arrest warrant was issued against her about 45 days ago in the case of a fake document registration near the state capital. She even abstained from her party chief Chandrababu Naidu’s Vastunna Meekosam padayatra in her constituency.

The Cyberabad police commissionerate filed a case under Sections 120-B, 419, 420, 468 and 471 of IPC and launched a search for her. She was named an accused in forging documents and selling a land of 400 sq yards situated in the Kukatpally Housing Board Colony for Rs 1.80 crore.

The actual  landowner, Narsimha Rao, lodged a complaint with the KPHB Colony police station against the MLA and four others of encroaching on his land.

The police, after investigation, filed a case against the MLA and issued an arrest warrant.

Last month she filed a  bail petition in  the High Court but it was rejected.
