AP, Odisha forces hot on the trail of RK

Over 500 police personnel from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh are reportedly hot on the trail of Maoist leader Ramakrishna alias RK in the dense forests of Bargi in Odisha.

According to sources, the CPI (Maoist) Andhra Orissa Border zonal committee leader is ailing and is being treated by a group of doctors in the forest.

State and central forces armed with modern weaponry are reportedly scouring the Bargi forest area. Sources said most of the villages near Bargi in Narayanpatna have already been ‘sanitised’ and the forces were closing in on a place where RK is said to be receiving treatment.

The sources quoted one senior police officer as confirming that “combing operations are on and they will continue.”

On the other hand, sources in the intelligence agencies said the Maoists have also increased security for RK following the police operation. The Central Reserve Command, a special squad, is reportedly guarding him.
