The Patancheruvu police filed request petition in the excise court here on Friday seeking permission to produce MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi in the court in a pending case.
The MLA was involved in a mosque dispute at Muttangi in Patancheruvu mandal in 2005. He had a quarrel with district collector AK Singhal and other officials over shifting of the mosque for road-widening. The Patancheruvu police registered cases against Akbaruddin, his brother and MP Asaduddin Owaisi, MIM MLAs Muntaz Khan, Pasha Khadri, Mozam Khan and Afsar Khan under Sections 147,153,353,290,295
(A)186,341,504 and 506 of IPC. All the accused got bail in 2009 and the two Owaisi brothers have not attend the court since then. The court had issued a nbw against Akbaruddin but the police did not execute warrant.
