TRS offers merger with Congress if...

The TRS leadership declared on Wednesday that if the Congress leadership was ready to restore a Telangana state as it existed on Oct. 30 1956, they would merge their party in the Congress without any conditions. The TRS urged Congress leaders from Telangana to persuade AICC president Sonia Gandhi, vice-president Rahul Gandhi or general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad to make a public acceptance of this offer.

Addressing press conference here, TRS MLA T Harish Rao said his party was prepared for any sacrifice for a separate state including directing its MLAs and MPs to resign if their objective was granted.

He said ministers from Telangana were more anxious to protect the interests of chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy than to protect the interests of the region.

In a separate press conference, TRS MLA Jupally Krishna Rao said Telangana ministers have no guts to speak for Telangana before the chief minister. TJAC chairman M Kodandaram took strong objection to the chief minister’s allegations against TRS chief on Tuesday.
