Nearly six crore voters in the state

According to chief electoral officer Bhanwar Lal, over 66,000 BLOs were supposed to carry out door-to-door verification of electoral rolls in the state. Every BLO was expected to visit between 250 and 300 houses.

As per the latest information, the total number of electors in the state is 5,92,20,444. Among them, the number of men is 2,97,54,422 and women 2,94,63,035, while others are 2,987. Duplicate entries found are 31,45,091 and errors 16,80,290, he said.

According to officials, after the final publication of electoral rolls on February 15, 2013, as many as 20,25,635 applications were received, out of which 19,91,206 have been disposed of, leaving a balance of 34,429.

Instructions have been issued to all the district election officers to dispose off the pending applications successfully. The total polling stations in the state are 66,964.
