Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy wanted Isuzu Motors to expedite works on its proposed truck and car manufacturing unit at Sri City in Chittoor district. A delegation from Isuzu Motors, India, called on Kiran Reddy at the Secretariat on Friday.
The Chief Minister promised all help from the State government to help the company begin production at the earliest. Kiran Reddy said the State had investment-friendly policies and recalled that he had laid the foundation stone for Mahindra & Mahindra tractor manufacturing unit and inaugurated the project to produce one lakh tractors per annum.
Isuzu Motors has a production capacity of 1,60,000 units per annum and its investment on the proposed manufacturing unit in Sri City is Rs 1,500 crore. The Isuzu car and truck manufacturing unit will provide employment to 2,900 people. It is scheduled to start production by April, 2016.
