Describing the panchayat elections as a fight between pro- development and anti-development forces, YSR Congress Party honorary president YS Vijayalakshmi has appealed to people to exercise their vote wisely.

In an open letter, she urged people to be careful while making the decision and elect the right candidate as sarpanch for he would be vital for their immediate future. ‘’You have to make a choice between the people who are association ed with forces that are in favour of development and welfare schemes and those who have and are opposing them,’’ she said.

Describing the YSR regime as a golden era and the periods that preceding and succeeding it as dark phases in which people had to face many hardships, Vijayamma urged people to make an intelligent choice. She alleged that the present Congress government and the previous TDP government had only a single-point agenda of squeezing money from  people. ‘’The Congress and TDP stand for anti-development and are against welfare schemes. They have increased bus fares, power charges and taxes,’’ she said.

The YSRCP leader said panchayat polls would be a golden chance for people to teach a fitting lesson to those two parties and reiterated that it was a war between values and credibility on the one hand and conspiracy and betrayal on the other.

She said people had seen through the Congress-TDP nexus after YSR’s death in the Assembly by-elections, cooperative polls, and on other occasions.
