Andhra leaders urged to agree for Telangana

BJP senior leader Ch Vidyasagar Rao demanded that the Union government announce statehood for Telangana before July 12.

BJP senior leader Ch Vidyasagar Rao demanded that the Union government announce statehood for Telangana before July 12. The Congress-led government is cheating the people of the region by deliberately delaying its decision on the separate statehood issue.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Vidyasagar Rao said that AP affairs in-charge minister Digvijaya Singh should reveal the stand of the Centre on state bifurcation soon.

“The Congress leaders believe that the people of Telangana will vote for the party in the upcoming local body electioins hoping for a separate state. But, it is not the case. Rather, the Congress would face a defeat in the polls owing to the delay in the decision on state division,” he said.

He said that neither did the Seemandhra leaders nor their Telangana counterparts ask for a Rayala-Telangana state.

“The Congress high command is bringing up this issue to create regional rifts. I request the Seemandhra leaders not to give resignations and respect the sentiment of Telangana people. The Andhra leaders should co-operate for the bifurcation of the state,” he said.

He further said that even if Congress granted statehood to Telangana it would not come back to power in 2014 elections.

Vidyasagar Rao condemned the comments of TJAC co-convener Srinivas Goud against the BJP leaders. He said that local leaders staged a protest over public issues at Ranga Reddy municipal corporation but not against Srinivas Goud. He said that TJAC chairman Kondandaram should solve the issue.

He said that the statue of Sardar Vallabhai Patel will be soon installed at Narmada dam in Gujarat. “It will be taller than the Statue of Liberty. We are collecting various iron instruments used by the farmers and the statue will be made by melting all the iron,” he revealed.
