CM puts administration on high alert

Following forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated places in all coastal districts, and Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Nizamabad in Telangana, all district collectors and line departments have been directed to take all necessary measures to deal with any situation. 

The staff of revenue, roads and buildings, fire services and other departments were directed to be alert. The RTC was asked to be ready to ferry people from low-lying areas to safer places.

Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy reviewed the preparedness and preventive measures with chief secretary PK Mohanty and other officials.

Later, the chief secretary held a detailed meeting with officials of all departments concerned at the Secretariat and directed them to be on high alert and evacuate people from low-lying areas and prevent any loss of life and damage to property. Joint collectors, in coordination with civil supplies department officials, should keep ready adequate stocks of food grains,  drinking water sachets, emergency lamps/lights, etc. Medical and health, and animal husbandry departments were told to  keep stock of essential medicines and to make available the services of medical and paramedical staff at short notice.

The ‘108’ and ‘104’ medical ambulance services should also be kept ready. The APSRTC is directed to keep sufficient buses ready for movement of people in case of evacuation of people and supply of essentials.

The Police and Fire departments are asked to keep constant vigil and be in touch with the district administration. The R&B and panchayat raj departments were asked to keep a vigil on roads, bridges and culverts in vulnerable areas.

GHMC was asked to raise a disaster response team with the latest rescue equipment. This force will be trained by NDRF/CISF. The disaster management should be in touch with the National Disaster Response Force, Army, Navy etc.

 Control Room

A Control Room was opened in the revenue (DM) department with telephone numbers 040- 23456005 and 23451043. It is located in Room No.412 on the third floor of North-H Block in the Secretariat.
