Khammam Collector reviews flood situation

Collector ISS Naresh has said that the district administration is geared up to meet any untoward incident due to the floods as river Godavari is in spate and has stocked essential commodities that will last three months.

Addressing a meeting organised to review the flood situation here Saturday, he said that a control room was set up at Khammam to help flood-affected people.

Naresh said that already sectoral and village-level officials were put on high alert and essential commodities were stocked at mandal headquarters.

Bhadrachalam sub-collector Narayan Bharat Gupta explained about the water levels of the Godavari to the collector. The level of river Godavari at Bhadrachalam was 36 ft at 2 pm Saturday and the same continued till evening. Water level of Indravati, the tributary of river Godavari, stood at 7.4 m at Kapileswaram. He said that security was beefed up in the Naxal-affected areas of the Bhadrachalam division for smooth conduct of panchayat elections.
