Villagers detain SI for thrashing man

Dammapeta sub-inspector Asok kumar was forcefully detained on the road by the villagers of Nallakunta village of the district here Sunday.

The villagers staged a raasta roko and sought explanation from the SI on his role in the alleged thrashing of a villager, Sunnam Nagu Sunday.  The villagers said that Nagu was beaten up over his suspicious involvement in the death of his brother, Sunnam Venkateswarulu. The dead body of Venkateswarulu was found under suspicious conditions.

The villagers did not allow the SI and other policemen to move from the spot, until  the Circle Inspector P Sampat Kumaram intervened into the matter.

The villagers called off the blockade only when the CI assured them of departmental enquiry against the accused.
