Plan for Rs 7,900 crore power saving

The State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM) has an ambitious plan to save Rs 7,900 crore every year by adopting saving measures.  With the latest average cost to serve (CoS), which is around Rs 5.25 per unit, the savings on power will be like this.

The energy saving estimated by the SECM is 4,180 million units in the domestic sector and Rs 2,500 crore in value. If industries save 4,820 million units, around Rs 2,400 crore can be saved. In all, 15,105 million units were saved by implementing energy saving plans (EEP), the value of money saved will be around Rs 7,900 crore. The SECM has plans to save 15,105 million units of power every year in the long run, it will come to Rs 7,900 crore.These details were disclosed by SECM CEO A Chandrasekhara Reddy at a seminar on “Strategies for Energy Security” on Tuesday.
