Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav’s son Anil Kumar has blamed the Uttar Pradesh police for Sunday’s fiasco at Hotel Park Hyatt.
Anil, in a exclusive chat with Express, claimed that the people who got into a scuffle with the policemen were not their supporters but were the ‘fans’ of UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav. He also denied he had any role in it.
According to him, there was a huge crowd in the hotel lobby. “There were a lot of fans of Akhilesh who wanted to meet him, but since they were not allowed by the security staff, it led to the nuisance,” he stated.
The UP police team failed to take note of the admiration of the youngsters who arrived to meet Akhilesh. “Their (UP police) behaviour was high-handed and they crossed all limits while controlling the crowd at the hotel,” he said.
The budding politico stated that his father is aware of the protocol of chief minister’s convoy. “There was heavy crowd at the lobby of the hotel and fans of Akhilesh Yadav tried to meet and greet him and when they were prevented, it led to this nuisance,” he said and added that the youngsters were angry as Akhilesh left without meeting them.
“When the incident took place, I was busy controlling the crowd. Many youngsters had come from various districts to greet and meet Akhilesh. The police thought that the youngsters who assaulted the UP police official were my father’s (Anjan Kumar) followers,” Anil said.
“I met Akhilesh at the venue of the meeting and explained about the incident. He directed his security team not to cross their limits.”
Asked about reports that it was he who had led the attack, Anil Kumar said: “We invited Akhilesh for a public meeting hosted by us. Akhilesh was my guest. Why should we humiliate him by creating such disturbances? But, it was unfortunate some persons who were keen to meet him got involved in damaging the vehicle and manhandled a policeman.”
“The entire media, especially national TV channels stared airing wrong news that the Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav’s son attacked the convoy of Akhilesh in the city. Is there any proof with the mediamen?” he wondered and denied any role in the incident.
