Newborn's death sparks row at RIMS in Kadapad

The death of an infant boy sparked mild tension at the RIMS hospital, Kadapa, on Friday, with the parents staging a protest alleging that negligence on the part of the doctors was responsible for the death of their newborn baby.

According to police, a pregnant woman from Mydukur, Subbalakshmamma, was admitted to the RIMS  hospital on July 19 after she developed labour pains.

After performing the required tests, doctors informed the woman’s attendants that a surgery had to be performed to deliver the baby. They also said that the mother’s uterus had to be removed in order to save the child’s life.

On July 23, a surgery was performed on the woman and a male baby was delivered who was suffering from complications.

On Friday morning, the infant died while undergoing treatment.
