Officials of the Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) on Sunday evening caught Nellore Circle-II assistant commercial tax officer (ACTO) A Seshagiri Rao red-handed while he was accepting bribe of `10,000 from a medical agency owner.
The rivals of P Durga Prasad, a medical agency owner , filed an RTI, seeking information about the latter’s tax payments.
The ACTO demanded Rs 20,000 from Durga Prasad for give positive report about him to his rivals. Finally, the deal was struck at Rs 10,000.
Durga Prasad then approached the ACB sleuths who laid a trap and caught the ACTO red-handed.
