Telugu University literary awards for 10 writers

University vice-chancellor Elluri Siva Reddy said here on Monday that they selected 10 prominent writers from the state for 10 literary awards given away by them every year.

Potti Sriramulu Telugu University has announced its annual literary awards for year 2011.

University vice-chancellor Elluri Siva Reddy said here on Monday that they selected 10 prominent writers from the state for 10 literary awards given away by them every year.

However, the 70-member screening committee has found no novel suitable for award in the ‘best novel’ category for the year. The committee had examined 305 books published in 2011 and the whole selection process was transparent, he claimed. 

Each recipient of the award will be presented with Rs 20,116 in cash, a memento and a certificate at the awards presentation function whose date will be  announced later.

The awardees are Sri Bharatam Srimannarayana for Sri Vivekabharatam (verse poetry), Sri Koduru Vijayakumar for Anantaram (free verse), Dr Pathipati Mohan for Chandamama Raave (children’s literature), Sri Sannapureddy Venkatrami Reddy for  Kotta Duppati (story), Acharya Mogili Nagabhushana Sarma for Nataka Silpam (literary criticism), Sri SA Rao for Manavata, Ekkada Vunnavu? (play/playlet), Acharya Mule Vijayalakshmi for Telugu Jaatiyala Padakosam (others), Vadrevu Varalakshmi Devi for Kondaphalam Marikonni Kathalu (best women writer), Sri Ranganatha Ramachandra Rao for Rallu Karige Vela (translation) and Dr Tirumala Srinivasacharya for Telugulo Matladukundam (lyrical poetry).
