BJP Telangana leaders deny electoral alliance with TDP

The TDP is misleading the people about the poll pact, party state leaders allege

The BJP will contest the forthcoming general elections in the state alone, party Telangana leaders claimed here on Wedneday.

Speaking to reporters after taking part in BJP Telangana leaders’ meeting, BJP Telangana Udayam Committee chairman Rajeshwar Rao and MLAs Y Lakshminarayana and E Srinivas Reddy said neither the party central leadership nor the state leaders are making any effort to forge any kind of alliance with TDP or any other parties in the state. “The talk of alliance with TDP is false and baseless. The party’s state leadership has decided to go alone in the coming elections and this was even conveyed to the party leadership,” they said.

As the BJP’s popularity is growing in the country small and regional parties are trying to come close to it and are making false claims of forging alliance with it, Srinivas Reddy alleged.

The TDP is misleading the people of the state about its plan to have alliance with the BJP, Lakshminarayana alleged and added that even party president Rajnath Singh has confirmed that the party was not planning to have alliance with TDP.

Rajeshwar Rao said a delegation of party leaders from Telangana region will soon leave for Delhi and meet all its top leaders, including Rajnath Singh, LK Advani and Sushma Swaraj and request them to exert pressure on the Centre to speed up the process of state bifurcation and introduce Telangana bill in the next Parliament session.

Similarly, the delegation will also ask its central leadership to place its view on Telangana before the Group of Ministers (GoM).

Rubbishing the talk that the party was planning to change its stand on Telangana, he said BJP’s stand on Telangana is very clear and the party will stand by it and there is no possibility of it taking a U-turn on the issue.

Rajnath Singh was supposed to take part in the party state unit’s central committee meeting on Wednesday, but his visit was cancelled due to ill health. In the presence of BJP state incharge V Satish, the committee meeting was held.

Apart from BJP state president G Kishan Reddy, party senior leaders Bandaru Dattatraya, Ch Vidyasagar Rao, Muralidhar Rao and others participated in the meeting.
