HYDERABAD: It was a mixed result in Telangana in ZPTC and MPTC elections held in April. Congress fared better in MPTC seats than TRS, while it was just the reverse in ZPTCs.
Out of the total 6,525 MPTC seats in Telangana, Congress had bagged 2,351, while TRS won 1,860 seats. They were followed by TDP with 1,061 seats and independents 522. BJP won 275 seats, while CPM bagged 145, YSRC 121, CPI 80, BSP 28, LSP 1 and registered parties 23.
In ZPTCs, out of the total 443, TRS had bagged 191, while Congress won 176. TDP followed with 53 seats, YSRC 6, independents 5, BJP 4, CPI 2, CPM 2 and BSP 1. Either results were withheld or there were no nominations for three ZPTC and 30 MPTC seats.
In Seemandhra, it was advantage TDP in both MPTC and ZPTC elections and YSRC had ended in the second place. Congress hardly made any impact.
Out of the total 653 ZPTC seats, TDP had bagged 373, while YSRC won 275. Congress party and independents won two ZPTC seats each and registered parties had won one seat. Congress bagged both of its ZPTC seats in Kurnool district and drew blank in all other 12 districts of Seemandhra.
In case of MPTCs, out of the total 10,092 seats, TDP had won 5,216, while YSRC had bagged 4,199 seats. Independents had bagged 428 seats, while Congress secured only 172 seats. CPM had got 24 seats and CPI 14. BJP on its own got 13 MPTC seats, while BSP won two.
Other registered parties had won 13 seats. Either results were withheld or there were no nominations for 11 MPTC seats.
