VISAKHAPATNAM: After a long time, revenue officials have invited applications for the issue of fresh pink ration cards. Officials are also taking up other related services like changes in the existing cards, transfer of cards, etc. According to joint collector Praveen Kumar, thousands of families are eagerly waiting for issuance of fresh ration cards for the past five years.

The respective tahsildar in the rural areas and assistant civil supply officer in municipal corporation limits would issue the ration cards. The applicants can submit Aadhar card, voter card, pan card, driving licence, power bill or water tax bill along with the application form to obtain the fresh ration cards.

Existing white ration cardholders can surrender their cards to obtain pink ration cards. Applicants can also apply for deletion of names in the existing cards or change of the name of the family head, provided they submit necessary documents towards proof against the request. A certificate from village revenue officer, panchayat secretary or municipal official certificate has to be enclosed along with the application form for addition of the names of one’s children in the ration cards.

People who do not have an LPG connection, particularly under Deepam scheme, can also apply for a change in the ration cards. Those who lost their cards can apply for duplicate ration cards. However, the applicant should submit a photocopy of a self declaration form and a certificate from the respective dealer that the person is not taking the ration.
