VISAKHAPATNAM: The auspicious month of Sravan also heralds the International Friendship Day on the first Sunday. The City of Destiny was soaked in the bonding festivity with people of all ages participating.

Major restaurants, coffee shops, hotels and many other places were filled to the brim  with students cutting cakes et al. The CMR Central at Maddilapalem was packed to capacity with college-goers.

Being Sunday and an occasion to celebrate together, the RK Beach, Teneti Park and multiplexes were also seen crowded. Students took joyrides and indulged themselves in various activities. 

The Rushikonda and Bheemili beaches witnessed shore parties and fun-filled events. “It’s one of the best festivals for all age groups to celebrate with their pals. We have a full-fledged plan to implement, starting from sunrise to the night.” says P Praneeth, a student from the city, who was enjoying with his friends at the RK Beach.

Meanwhile, the fancy and gift shops did brisk business. Huge sales of friendship bands and gift articles were reported. As celebration is the theme of the Friendship Day, the city hotels decked up for the occasion by organising DJ parties.

Prominent ones like Novotel, Park, Four Points by Sheraton, Ambica Sea Green, Chrome and Senora Beach Resorts attracted the youngsters for entertainment and delicious food.

‘Ye Dosthi’, a Hindi musical concert by RVV Satyanarayana, entertained Vizagites at Kalabharathi auditorium.
