Three persons, including two students, were killed and five others injured when a car crashed

NELLORE: Three persons, including two students, were killed and five others injured when a car crashed into three motorcycles after jumping over a road divider near the Narayana Engineering College at Chinthareddy Palem village on NH 5 in Nellore Rural mandal on Sunday.

Though the incident took place around 5.30 pm, it came to light in the wee hours of Monday only when student unions staged a ‘rasta roko’ demanding the arrest of the accused, a woman. They alleged that the police were trying to hush up the incident.  The car was driven by a woman, S Priyanka of Kapatipalem in the city.

While Priyanka miraculously escaped unhurt, eight persons were injured and were immediately shifted to the Simhapuri hospital at Chinthareddy Palem and from there, to the DSR government hospital here where three of them succumbed to injuries on Monday. The condition of three other injured was also critical.

The deceased were identified as T Venkateswarlu Reddy alias Venkatesh (26) of Tothapalli Gudur mandal, P Karthik (18), a second year intermediate student of Sri Chaitanya College located in Dhana Lakshmi Puram in Nellore Rural Mandal and G Vijayakumar (22), an MBA student of Narayana college.  Venkateswarlu Reddy was working in APGenco in Muthukuru mandal while Karthik was a native of Padamatinaidu Palle of Atmakur mandal and Vijaya kumar belonged to Siddavatam mandal in Kadapa.
