ELURU: Tension prevailed for some time in the city when hundreds of students tried to barge into the premises of the Collectorate here Wednesday. The police resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse them.

Meanwhile, DSP Y Sattibabu rushed to the Collectorate and convinced the students to withdraw the agitation.

The students of CRR Degree College, led by SFI and AISF, demanded that the government take action against the college management who had increased the fees by 50 per cent.

They also alleged that the college management had asked the students to pay the increased fee amounts before August 11.

The students said that they would again launch an agitation if the management failed to roll back its decision.
