Police Claim Auto Driver Kidnapped Financier

VISAKHAPATNAM: The city police cracked the mysterious kidnap case of financer M Jagganadh Rao (62), who was found in a semi-conscious condition on the Beach Road late Tuesday night, and deduced that an auto driver and two others were guilty.

One-Town inspector of police Syed Mohammed Eliyas said that Jagganadh Rao had left his home in One-Town at 10 am Monday. He was carrying `12,000 to collect some dues from his clients and took a share-auto-rickshaw at Town Kotharoad. However, his family members received a phone call in the evening from Jagganadh’s mobile stating that the financer was kidnapped and he would be set free only if they hand over `10 lakh to the kidnapper. The worried family members lodged a complaint with the police Monday night.

On Tuesday night, Jagannadh was found by the cops lying in a semi-conscious state on the Beach Road. Based on his cell phone data record, they found that Jagganadh was kidnapped by the auto-rickshaw driver and two others travelling by the vehicle, soon after he boarded it. The trio robbed him of `12,000 and tried to extract more money from his family members. But then, they set him free on the Beach Road and fled the scene.

The police registered a case and took up investigation. They are also trying to identify the culprits.
