VIJAYAWADA: CPI city secretary Donepudi Shankar demanded release of `1,000 crore under the special grant in order to pull Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) out of the financial crisis.
Speaking to newsmen here Thursday, he stated that the VMC was in deep financial crisis and demanded an immediate action from the government.
He also alleged that, in the name of resurvey, the government is trying to increase the property taxes in the city. “Remarks on office members were discussed in the recent council meeting, which exposed the inefficiency of VMC,” he added.
Shankar also pointed that the city MLAs, instead of suggesting solutions to the VMC, were involved in shooting several statements, which is to impress their senior leaders.
