Bogus Beneficiaries become Jittery

SANGAREDDY: The Integrated Household Survey scheduled to be held across the state on Tuesday is causing heartache among the ration card holders. Previously, to avail several government schemes like Arogyasri, fees reimbursement, Indiramma houses, etc., a large number of people  people--well above the BPL --would fraudulently procure white ration cards.

The result was 6,24,639 white ration card holders, 68,173 pink ration card holders, 93,078 Anthyodaya card holders, 1,604 Annapurna beneficieries and 59,877 additional temporary ration cards were also issued during the Racchabanda Programme in the district. Incidentally, the total number of beneficiaries under these schemes are more than total population of the district.

After government’s request for surrendering the bogus cards received poor response, the IHS was announced. With the survey all bogus beneficiaries of the government schemes are expected to be weeded out and the benefits will reach only the poor.
