Vishal, Meena Adjudged Best Swimmers

VISAKHAPATNAM: As many as 320 swimmers of different age groups including 200 boys and 120 girls participated in the first DRM Cup Swimming Championship - 2014 conducted by the East Coast Railway Sports Association and Visakha District Swimming Association here Sunday. Visakhapatnam DRM Anil Kumar, who was the chief guest of the event, inaugurated the programme.

18meen.jpgA total of 74 events in 50 m freestyle, 50 m backstroke, 50 m breast stroke, 50 m butterfly, 100 m freestyle, 200 m individual medley and 1,500 m freestyle were conducted separately for boys and girls. In the evening programme, the judges announced the results. G. Vishal Yadav was adjudged the best swimmer in the boys’ group and V Meena Amrutha the best swimmer among the girls. President of East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation Anju Anil Kumar was the chief guest of the closing ceremony. The winners in various categories were presented with medals and certificates.

Senior divisional commercial manager (DCM)  M Yelvender Yadav,  Sr. divisional engineer (coordination)  GH Victor Joseph, divisional engineer (Hd.Qrs.) Ch Vishnu Murty,  assistant sports officer Kaushalender, secretary of the Visakha District Swimming Association and general secretary of ECoRSA, Waltair, B. Appanna Reddy took part in the event.

All divisional officers of Waltair Division of the East Coast Railway were present.
