VIJAYAWADA: Chigurupati Sudheekshan Foundation in the city has given away ‘Chigurupati Sudheekshan Excellence Awards- 2014’ to prominent persons from different fields who contributed to the society on the occasion of the ‘World Humanitarian Day’ here Tuesday.
The foundation identified personalities from five distinct fields such as IT, agriculture, culture and literature, education and social service, and felicitated them at the Siddhartha Arts College Auditorium in the city.
Krishna Zilla Parishad chairperson Gadde Anuradha said that Krishna district had produced many eminent personalities in the past. “After bifurcation, we started development from scratch. With the presence of eminent personalities in the district, I am sure that we can reach dizzying heights,” she added.
Chief guest of the function mayor Koneru Sridhar said that the foundations like Sudheekshan Foundation should identify distinguished personalities. “Service is more important to the society. These kind of programmes are inspirational,” he felt.
The IT and computer science award was given to T Hanuman Chowdary, former IT advisor to the state government for his contribution in the field of IT and Agriculture award was given to Mandava Janaki Ramaiah, chairman of Krishna Milk Producers Mutually Aided Cooperative Union.
Anand Kuchibholta received the Culture and Literature award for his contribution to the fields of culture. K Jyothsna Raghavachari, founder and director of Abhyasa Vidyalaya, Vijayawada, was picked as the awardee in the Education category. G Rasmi Samaram, executive director of Vasavya Mahila Mandali, received the award for her contribution to the Social Service sector.
Chairman of Institute of Engineers (India) P Ravindra Babu, chairman of KCP Sugar Factory G Venkateswara Rao, Krishna Exhibition Society secretary GV Ramana Rao and president of Sudheekshan Foundation Chigurupati Vimala were present.
