Woman Survives Suicide Pact by Family of Four

VIJAYAWADA: In a suicide pact, a 35-year-old man, along with his two sons and mother, jumped into the cooling canal of the Narla Tata Rao Thermal Power Station at Ibrahimpatnam here Thursday. According to Ibrahimpatnam police, a lorry driver, Hanuman Prasad, along with his mother and children went to the NTTPS cooling canal Thursday evening and jumped into it with all of them.

People who were present near the canal rescued Hanuman Prasad’s mother and informed the police about the incident.

Ibrahimpatnam police, along with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team, rushed to the spot and launched a search for the bodies. The search was still going on till last reports last came in Thursday night.

“We are yet to find the bodies of Hanuman Prasad and his sons. Hanuman Prasad’s mother was sent to government general hospital. Her condition is stable,” Ibrahimpatnam CI Ch Rambabu said. “We are yet to record the statement of Hanuman Prasad’s mother. We’ll come to know more after talking to the survivor,” the CI said and added that the whereabouts of the family are yet to be established.
